Dr. James J. Otis died:

and
https://dailystandard.com/archive/2013-01-04/stories/19937/longtime-physician-james-otis-dies

I found these three people, online, today.

I knew the first two, as parents of classmates at St. Dominic High School, in O'Fallon, Mo.  Marie Kiel was the mother of Mark Kiel, class of 1977.  John W. Hooker, Sr. was the father of Jim Hooker, class of 1977.

The third person is the father of Sharon Otis, who married our high school Priest, Fr. James V. Grimaud.  He taught religion at Roman Catholic, Archdiocese of St. Louis' St. Dominic High School, while I was a student there; and, he left after the 1977-1978 school year.  Sharon Otis's father's obituary shows that he was a member of the Methodist faith, and, there was a Masonic service for him, at the funeral home.

Mark, Jim, and I knew this Priest.  Mark married another classmate, Diane Schroer, who, also had classes and masses with Fr. Grimaud.  I found an address for the former Father Jim Grimaud, today, online:  4918 Country Club Drive, High Ridge, Mo.  63049.  He, also, lived in St. Louis, Mo. and Columbia, Mo.  He, is, now, 77 years old.

Mark and Dian(n)e Kiel moved to a place in Josephville, Mo. after they married, in the Catholic church, at St. Theodore's, in Flint Hill, Mo.  This is their address, I found online:  1020 Kiel Lane, Josephville, Mo.  63385.

Jim, who married Denise Tameler, lives in Warrenton, Mo., at this address, I found online:  23095 Buck Track Lane, Warrenton, Mo.  63383-7309.  Denise's father's obituary, dated October 8, 2017, is here:  http://pitmanfuneralhome.com/view.php?id=3480.   The obituary shows that her father was a member of the Lutheran faith.  Her mother's maiden name was "Keil".

International Task Force on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide has a link to this article on their website:

Disability and Health Journal 3 (2010) 16e30

Killing us softly: the dangers of legalizing assisted suicide
Marilyn Golden*, Tyler Zoanni
Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF), Berkeley, CA 94710, USA

Quoting the article:
"In discussing Joan Lucas, an Oregon woman whose evaluating
psychologist decided she was competent ‘‘on the
basis of a single questionnaire administered by her family,’’
Hendin and Foley explained that when a psychiatric evaluation
occurs, it tends to be used to protect clinicians rather
than patients:
[The Oregon Public Health Division’s] monitoring
procedures do not make it possible for OPHD to evaluate
the care Joan Lucas received. To do so OPHD
would have to interview Joan’s primary care physician
who had refused to assist in her suicide and to
assess the quality of her psychological evaluation.
Using psychologists or psychiatrists as gatekeepers
only to establish a patient’s capacity to make a decision
for assisted suicide contributes to pro forma,
meaningless consultations.
In the Lucas case, we have no way of knowing if Joan
Lucas was seriously depressed or if the physician or
psychologist was disposed to proceed even if she
were. Even more troubling is that OPHD does not
seem to want to know about the psychiatric status
of patients requesting assisted suicide. Under the
current monitoring system, OPHD collects no information
from psychiatrists who did not find patients
to be competent and has no direct communication
with psychiatrists or psychologists who did."...

Missouri Health Association, September 2009 issue of "Health Care Matters", has an article entitled "An Epidemic of Obesity", and includes a web address for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - www.cdc.gov. Facts are: obesity is scary for us who have to deal with the obese person's slowness, both physical and mental, and lack of personal care. If all you know how to do is eat, then what are you doing employed and in charge of money? Common sense in the high places in society in regards to the obese would eliminate most of the problems in the employment and financial sectors that a lot of normal weight people face.

Mr. Andrew B. Alderson, Exec. Dir. of The Couple to Couple League, International, writes: "Many NFP couples know from experience that the times when fertility is in transition - following the birth of a baby and heading toward menopause - can be the most difficult to practice NFP. CCL is pleased to have two new classes targeted just to those times, our new Postpartum and Premenopause classes. The new Supplemental Classes with accompanying manuals provide more complete information and practical advice than we have ever provided on how to practice NFP during these transitions."

January 18, 2003 there was a march from the New Cathedral Bascilica, in the city of St. Louis, lead by Archbishop Rigali, to and back from Planned Parenthood Headquarters. My Mom, Mrs. Joan Bextermiller, 65 yrs. old, participated, and is quoted by the writer, Jo Mannies. The march commemorated the 30th anniversay of Roe v. Wade, and was in opposition to the law making abortion legal in the U.S. My Mom says, according to the article, that she "opposes women's right to kill their babies", and supports a national ban on abortion.

Letter dated Thanksgiving-Christmas 2007, quoting author Mr. Andrew B. Alderson, Exec. Dir. of The Couple to Couple League, International, Inc., "I'm grateful for the significant contributions to the NFP movement made by three individuals who have recently passed away: Dr. John Billings, Ingrid Trobisch, and Henry Hugh Wilson, husband of Mercedes Arzu Wilson." Your gift helps us continue our work! Those gifts never helped me continue my work, so I don't have anything to give them monetarily, and they are looking for money. You can send me some money if you are happy I'm posting info about them online.
Letter received w/ the 2008 Natural Family Planning Class Schedule, CCL St. Louis area, includes teachers and places as follows:
'John & Joan Kane, St. Clare Professional Bldg., 915 E. 5th Street, Alton, Il.

Introductory Sessions Only at the same locations, and including 'Tim & Theresa Leland, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Cottleville, Mo.' No classes in July and November. To pre-register, call 314-481-1908, or you can buy the NFP book and kit off of their website
www.ccli.org. Phone number for southern Illinois: 618-466-4410. I don't know any of these people, so can't help you w/ any questions about them. The location in Perryville is a stretch to say in the St. Louis area, since in southern Mo., a couple of hours outside of the city. Alton is north of the St. Louis city, and not in southern Illinois. I recommend buying a digital thermometer, since the glass thermometer I bought from them has broken twice, once on the day I received the item in the mail. Also, a chart is downloadable from the web, or was, and a book of charts, even though used, can be copied if you have some white-out and a copier. Yep, I need money.
